FOLC was founded in 2006. We have been advocating to preserve and revitalize the Lafitte Corridor and adjacent neighborhoods via the creation of a greenway. Read about our mission.

The City of New Orleans has contracted with Design Workshop to plan, design and construct a greenway in the Lafitte Corridor.

2011 Board Election Results

The FOLC 2011 board election votes have been tabulated.

Congratulations to our new board members: Ryan Bordenave, Erica Normand, Matt Rufo, and Mark Venczel. Congratulations also to our incumbent board members who were re-elected: Linda Landesberg, Daniel Samuels, Jeffrey Schwartz, and Leonetta Terrell.

Many thanks are in order: Thanks to all fifteen candidates. This was the biggest slate we’ve ever had; the quality of candidates was high, the choices tough, and the election was a close one. Thanks to Jessica Knox (Chair), Martha Landrum (Secretary) and Linda Landesberg (Treasurer) for their roles in facilitating the election. Thanks especially to the over 60 FOLCs who showed up for our annual membership meeting and cast their votes.

And finally, we salute Tom Schnatz, whose term on the FOLC board is expiring. Tom did not seek re-election, but we recognize his many important contributions over the past two years and look forward to continuing to collaborate in the future.

It’s worth noting that while our bylaws place a limit on the board of directors, there is no limit on membership. It’s our hope that everyone who has expressed an interest in FOLC over these last few weeks will continue to stay involved, engaged and active. 2011 is going to be a very interesting year for the greenway project, and we will need all the creative collaboration we can muster.
