Quick Facts

FOLC was founded in 2006. We have been advocating to preserve and revitalize the Lafitte Corridor and adjacent neighborhoods via the creation of a greenway. Read about our mission.

The City of New Orleans has contracted with Design Workshop to plan, design and construct a greenway in the Lafitte Corridor.

The official project website is: LafitteCorridorConnection.com.

Three Great Videos

Thanks to Jennifer Ruley for turning us on to these great videos. “The first video gives a really good overview of what a greenway is, types of users, how it interfaces with adjacent properties, safety, access, and connections. The other videos are much shorter but have good content.”

These videos do a good job of conveying what a greenway is and could be, as well as what greenways mean to communities that have implemented them.

    Greenways in Knoxville
Knoxville has more than 41 miles of greenways. The caption on this video reads: “Learn about the benefits, myths, and realities of greenways; and how they can make your neighborhood a better place in which to live, work, play and raise a family!”

    Detroit Trails & Greenways
This video features the DeQuindre Cut which follows an old below grade railroad corridor and the new riverfront park.

    Central Valley Greenway – Vancouver
I visited this excellent example of a Vancouver greenway in 2004. The Central Valley greenway is shows the array of forms that greenways can take and connects urban, suburban, and rural spaces.
