Quick Facts

FOLC was founded in 2006. We have been advocating to preserve and revitalize the Lafitte Corridor and adjacent neighborhoods via the creation of a greenway. Read about our mission.

The City of New Orleans has contracted with Design Workshop to plan, design and construct a greenway in the Lafitte Corridor.

The official project website is: LafitteCorridorConnection.com.

2012 Hike the Lafitte Corridor Recap

Over 100 participants gathered on Saturday morning, April 14th to Hike the Lafitte Corridor. Bike Easy provided bike valet services free of charge and hosted a Bicycle Safety Workshop before the Hike. The weather was beautiful and FOLC Ambassadors were ready to lead their groups through the 3-mile journey headed towards downtown New Orleans. The event ended in Congo Square where hikers were welcomed by Baby Boys Brass Band, fruit and refreshments.

A big THANK YOU to our partners this year: The Coca-Cola Foundation/Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, Faubourg Lafitte, South Coast Solar and Stirling Properties. Additional community partners include: American Can Apartments, Bike Easy, Café Treme, Hammond’s Transportation, Joy Ride Bike Rentals, Louisiana Himalaya Association, Massey’s Professional Outfitters, Mid-City Theatre, People United for Armstrong Park, WTUL 91.5 FM, and all individual donations and personal contributions (including the time spent of all our wonderful volunteers).
