Quick Facts

FOLC was founded in 2006. We have been advocating to preserve and revitalize the Lafitte Corridor and adjacent neighborhoods via the creation of a greenway. Read about our mission.

The City of New Orleans has contracted with Design Workshop to plan, design and construct a greenway in the Lafitte Corridor.

The official project website is: LafitteCorridorConnection.com.

Green Rooms

We’re not sure if we should call them green rooms or event structures or information kiosks. As the triple name implies, this is a complex project. Even describing it is a far from trivial task.

So we’ll leave that effort to our friends at FutureProof:

In order to mark the location and importance of the Greenway, FutureProof was asked to develop informational structures along the park. FutureProof chose sixteen sites, or “events,” through the Corridor that had the potential to serve as potential kiosks, “green rooms,” and way-finding markers. These structures are composed of materials… that include see-through fencing fabric… and traffic signs and lights…. Varying in shape and size according to context, the design of the structures gathers inspiration from the linear fluidity of musical composition, which places a strong emphasis on movement and rhythm.

Please note, these structures are intended as a preview for what’s to come and are temporary until such time as the greenway is built.

As an added bonus, here’s an image of FutureProof’s impressive presentation board. For the full effect, cock your head to the right, or tilt your monitor to the left.
